Here’s a less expensive ulam, egg recipe you can make at home. It’s also a great appetizer. Making Eggs in Soy Sauce is simply marinating eggs in a spiced soy sauce. It’s worth a try.
1 cup Soy Sauce
1/4 cup Vinegar
5 cloves Garlic
1/2 cup Green Onions
2 Chilies (red and green)
1 tbsp. Korean Red Hot Pepper Flakes
1 tbsp. Sugar
- Boil 6 Eggs, let cool and peel.
- In a bowl, combine the remaining ingredients (soy sauce, garlic, onion, chilies, green onions, vinegar, Korean hot pepper flakes and sugar). Season with pepper.
- Drop the hard-boiled eggs into the bowl.
- Marinate at least 1-2 hours before consuming.

You can reuse the soy sauce marinade. Drop more hard-boiled eggs into it.
