Atsuete oil or annatto oil can be very useful in the kitchen. It can be added to many dishes, so having it ready to use will make your life a whole lot easy.
Here’s a simple way to make atsuete oil at home.
1/2 cup Atsuete Seeds
1.5 Cup Vegetable Oil (or any cooking oil you prefer)
Things you need:
- Pour in the oil in the pan. Once it starts to simmer, add the atsuete seeds. Cook in medium heat. Stir once in a while.
2. Keep it simmering for about 10 minutes. Remove from fire, set aside, and let it cool.
3. Use a funnel and a strainer to avoid seeds from dropping inside the bottle.
4. Store in a room temperature.
Note from Ren:
Since you’re dealing with atsuete and oil, expect to get stains on your utensils or even your hands. Just wash them with dishwashing soap right away.
But as always, it should be worth it. Now you have your atsuete oil ready to use!
