Here’s How to Make Fish Balls and Kikiam Using La Mia Tuna Flakes in Oil:

Ingredients:

Tuna Fish Balls

2 cans La Mia Tuna Flakes in Oil
1 Onion
2 cloves Garlic
2 cups All-purpose Flour
1 Egg
1/4 cup Green Onions
Salt
Pepper
Cooking Oil

Fish Balls Sauce

1.5 cup Water
1 clove Garlic
1/2 Onion
2 tbsp. Brown Sugar
1 tsp. Vinegar
1 tbsp. Soy Sauce
1 tbsp. Cornstarch (diluted on water)
Salt
Pepper

Tuna Kikiam

2 cans La Mia Tuna Flakes in Oil
1/2 cup Carrot
1 Onion
2 cloves Garlic
1 tsp. Garlic Powder
1 tsp. Soy Sauce
1 cup Cornstarch
1/2 cup Tapioca Flour
Salt
Pepper
Cooking Oil

Process:

Tuna Fish Balls

  1. Prepare La Mia Tuna Flakes on Oil, drain and crush to remove chunks.
  2. Add the egg, onion, garlic and green onions. Mix.
  3. Add in the all-purpose flour. Season with salt and pepper. Mix until it becomes a soft dough.
  4. Refrigerate for 1 hour.

Tuna Kikiam

  1. Prepare La Mia Tuna Flakes on Oil, drain and crush to remove chunks.
  2. Add in the carrots, onions, garlic, soy sauce and season with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Mix.
  3. Add in the cornstarch and tapioca flour. Mix until it forms into a soft dough.
  4. Using your hands, form them into logs.
  5. Steam for 20 minutes. Let it cool.

Fish Balls Sauce

  1. Pour in the water into the pan, add the soy sauce, onion, garlic, sugar and vinegar.
  2. When it starts to simmer, pour in some cornstarch diluted in water until it thickens. Season with salt and pepper.

Deep Fry:

  1. From the fridge, form the fish ball dough into balls and fry until golden brown.
  2. Deep fry the steamed kikiam too.

Serve them with sauce! Enjoy!

Note from Ren:

I never thought that making fish balls and kikiam could also be possible using canned tuna. Tried this the first time and it was a success. For the sauce, you can make it spicy by adding fresh chilies to it.
