Pork Siomai and Chili Sauce

Check out this easy pork siomai recipe and learn how to make a simple chili sauce at home. The advantage of making your own siomai is you can enjoy as many as you can, it’s cheaper and you’ll have the chance to adjust the taste. This can also be a good business idea for those who are looking for one.

Here’s how to make Pork Siomai and Chili Sauce:

Ingredients:

750g Ground Pork
1 pc Carrot (finely minced)
1 medium sized Onion (finely chopped)
3 cloves Garlic (finely minced)
1/2 cup Green Onions (finely chopped)
1 Egg
1 cup Cornstarch
1 tbsp. Soy Sauce
Salt
Pepper
Siomai Wrapper

Sauce:

1/2 cup Olive Oil
1 tsp. Sesame Oil
1/2 cup Chili Flakes or Fresh Chilies
5 Cloves Garlic (finely chopped)
1 tbsp. Sugar
Salt
Pepper

Process:

  1. In a bowl, combine in the ground pork, carrots, onion, garlic, green onions and mix.
  2. Then add on the egg, soy sauce and give it another mix. Add in the cornstarch and give it a final mix.
  3. Lay one siomai wrapper and put about a teaspoon of pork mixture at the center. Then place it in between you thumb and forefinger and start folding it in a circular motion. Repeat the process for all.

4.Boil some water in a steamer. Place the siomai inside steamer. You can also top some more carrots on top to add extra color. Steam for about 10-15 mintues depending on its size.

  1. Meanwhile in a pan, pour in the olive oil and the sesame oil. Then the chili flakes and the garlic. Season with salt, pepper and sugar. Cook in a low heat for about 5 minutes.

Serve the siomai with some chili sauce. Enjoy!

If I’m craving for siomai, I would rather make them at home. It’s easy, and I can eat as many as I can in a much lesser price. It would take some effort to save. You can also use fresh chilies instead of the dried flakes.
